CoRenewal is researching ways that fungi can help protect our streams from super toxic runoff after wildfire destruction. Turns out these super-fungi actually absorb toxins! This is great news! Especially for those living in areas prone to wildfires. It seems since 2018 California wildfires have increasingly gotten worse. Drought, and bark beetles have killed off hundreds of thousands of trees making the landscape a virtual timber box. At least with this little bit of good news the aftermath of the wildfire will be less destructive for our lakes and streams. Let's get planting those mushrooms!
