That's right, on this day, May 25, 1787, fifty-five delegates from the twelve of the thirteen colonies traveled to Philadelphia to take part in the Constitutional Convention. Rhode Island wanting to remain independent refused to send anyone take part in the event. It took four months to write out the new laws! In the end on September 17, 1787 forty-one delegates were present to sign the famous document.
