Today, January 20, 2025, Donald J. Trump returned to the White House as the 47th President of the United States, making history as only the second president to be re-elected after losing a bid for a second consecutive term. The first was Grover Cleveland, our 22nd President, who lost re-election but returned as the 24th President in 1892.

Due to bitter cold—an icy 27 degrees—the ceremony was moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda, creating a warmer and more intimate atmosphere. Vice President JD Vance was the first to take the oath of office, administered by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Following this, Chief Justice John Roberts swore in President Donald Trump. A technical glitch during the ceremony led country singer Carrie Underwood to improvise, asking the audience to join her in singing America the Beautiful a cappella alongside the Armed Forces Chorus-an unexpected but heartfelt patriotic touch to the event.

In his inaugural address, President Trump emphasized national strength, unity. With prominent tech leaders like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg in attendance, what was not speech hinted at a future shaped by innovation and freedom of speech. AI (Artificial Intelligence) has made significant strides in the past several years only to pick up more speed as it becomes more advance in the last two years. A highlight of Trump's address was his declaration that the United States would plant its flag on Mars, reigniting excitement for exploration and America's place in the final frontier. What do you think? Do you think we need to go to Mars? Personally, I find it very exciting!

Special recognition goes to Senator Amy Klobuchar, the Democrat from Minnesota, who chaired the Committee for the 60th Presidential Inauguration. She did an amazing job organizing this monumental event. Can you imagine the pressure of orchestrating something of this size and importance, balancing ceremony and protocol seamlessly?

No matter what party you support, history was made today. It’s fascinating to witness the ceremonies and traditions that mark the peaceful transition of power from one president to the next. It truly is a celebration!
